God Is Not Separate From You — The Illusion of Distance

For most of my life, I thought I was moving toward God.

Through rituals, through mantras, through devotion, through longing…

Every breath, every prayer felt like a step closer.

But the closer I tried to get, the further away God seemed to move.

Until one day, all seeking collapsed into a single, silent truth:

There is no distance. There never was.

The Root of Suffering Is This Illusion

We believe we are here, and God is somewhere else.

Up there. Out there. Beyond.

We cry to the sky, hoping our voices will be heard.

We fast. We chant. We meditate. We bow to idols and avatars.

But all of it carries a hidden assumption:

That God is other.

That God is separate.

And so we suffer.

Not because we are far from God —

But because we believe we are.

How the Illusion is Created

The mind is a mirror, reflecting forms and dividing reality into subject and object.

“I am here.”

“That is there.”

“This is me.”

“That is not me.”

And this habit of division extends even to the Divine.

We start to relate to God as an object — as something to find, experience, reach.

But Truth is not an object.

God is not a goal.

The Self is not a thing.

It is That which is always present — the very substance of Being.

You Are Already What You Seek

This is the heart of Advaita. The nectar of the Upanishads. The final pointer that ends the search:

Tat Tvam Asi.

“You are That.”

Not metaphorically. Not mystically. Not eventually.

Now.

You, the one reading these words — you are not separate from the Supreme.

Not the body.

Not the mind.

But the one aware of both.

That awareness — pure, unchanging, formless — is God.

Not like God.

Is God.

Why It Still Feels Distant

You might hear this and still feel the ache of separation.

“I understand what you’re saying, but I don’t feel it. I still long for God.”

This is because the idea of “you” is still in the way.

The personal self — the seeker, the struggler, the one who wants union — is itself part of the illusion.

It is not the real you.

And that’s the trap.

You cannot become one with God while believing yourself to be apart.

Union is not achieved. It is remembered.

And this remembrance begins the moment the seeker stops chasing and turns inward.

Not to think.

Not to feel.

But to be.

The Direct Path: Turn Within

Stop looking outside.

Not because there’s nothing beautiful there — but because what you are looking for is not out there.

Close your eyes.

Be still.

Drop the question. Drop the technique. Drop even the idea of dropping.

Just notice:

There is awareness here.

Unchanging.

Unmoving.

Unstained by thought or sensation.

That awareness is not inside the body.

The body is inside it.

It is not in the world.

The world appears in it.

It is not yours.

It is You.

When this becomes clear — not intellectually, but in your very marrow — the illusion of distance collapses.

And the most astonishing realization dawns:

God has never been absent.

God Is Closer Than Thought

God is not an experience.

God is not a feeling.

God is not a being watching you from afar.

God is the watching itself.

Not the watcher — but the pure witnessing that knows the watcher and the watched.

Even now, as these words appear — God is here.

Not in the words.

In the silence between them.

Not in your thoughts.

In the space in which they arise.

Not in some future state.

But in the naked fact that you are.

Let the Illusion End

You don’t have to travel any further.

You don’t have to fix yourself.

You don’t even need to “find God.”

You only need to stop believing in the distance.

That single step — from mind to awareness — is the entire journey.

And the moment you take it, the journey ends.

What remains is not a seeker.

Not a finder.

Not even a realized person.

Just God, knowing Itself.
