Why You Can’t Make Yourself Awaken

You’ve read the books.
Listened to the masters.
Practiced the meditations.
Chanted the mantras.
Sat in silence for hours.
But still, something feels... unfinished.
Somewhere deep inside, you’re still waiting for the moment—
when it finally clicks.
When awakening finally happens.
And if you’re honest,
a quiet frustration is building.
“Why hasn’t it happened yet?
What else must I do?”
Let me say this as clearly as I can:
You cannot make yourself awaken.
And that’s the greatest relief you’ll ever hear.

The One Who Tries to Awaken Cannot Awaken
There’s a fundamental error in most seeking.
The mind assumes you—the person, the seeker—will one day become enlightened.
But the person is the very illusion you’re meant to wake up from.
Trying to awaken as a person
is like trying to wash away a shadow with more shadow.
It doesn’t matter how sincere you are.
How many retreats you attend.
How deeply you contemplate.
As long as there is a “you” trying to awaken,
Truth remains just out of reach.
Because the seeker and the sought
cannot exist in the same space.
Awakening Is Not an Event. It’s a Disappearance.
We imagine awakening as a grand moment.
A cosmic explosion.
A sudden realization that changes everything.
But for many, awakening is not an arrival.
It’s a collapse.
Not a firework… but a falling away.
The story ends.
The striving stops.
The seeker vanishes.
And in that utter silence,
what remains is not a new you.
It’s no-you.
And this no-you isn’t nothing.
It’s everything.
It’s Presence.
It’s God.
It’s Being… without boundary or name.
Your Job Is Not to Awaken. It’s to Stop Interfering.
Truth doesn’t need your help.
It’s already shining.
The only thing in the way
is your effort to “get there.”
The spiritual ego wants to grasp, measure, accelerate.
But Reality cannot be grasped.
You don’t bring the sun up in the morning.
You don’t breathe your body.
You don’t keep your heart beating.
Then why do you think you must awaken yourself?
The truth is: you’re already the Self.
But you’ve mistaken yourself for a seeker.
Awakening isn’t about gaining something.
It’s about losing what was never real.
So What Do I Do, Sukhdev? Just Wait Around?
No. You listen.
You stay radically honest.
You become deeply still.
You investigate every belief you’ve held about yourself.
And then you drop even that.
You don’t wait for awakening.
You notice where you are resisting what already is.
You meet every sensation, every fear, every thought—
not with control or avoidance—
but with open, naked attention.
Not to fix. Not to force.
But to see through it.
And in this clarity,
the illusion of the seeker dissolves naturally.
Not because you achieved something.
But because what you are
no longer needs the lie.

Grace Awakens What Effort Cannot
There comes a point in every sincere seeker’s life
where they must bow.
Not to a god in the sky.
But to That which cannot be named.
Call it Grace.
Call it Presence.
Call it Love.
It moves without your permission.
It chooses the moment.
It shatters the illusion, not because you earned it—
but because it is Time.
And when it happens,
you will know it did not come from you.
You did not cause the rain.
You simply stopped holding the umbrella.
Rest. Let the Fire Burn What Must Go.
Stop trying to reach awakening
like it’s another goal on your list.
This isn’t about achievement.
It’s about death—of everything you thought you were.
And yes, that may feel like burning.
Let it burn.
Let the old structures fall.
Let the false self crumble.
Rest in what remains.
Let life live you.
Let Truth reveal Itself
in the absence of your effort.
The Doorway Is Already Open
You’ve never been outside of Reality.
You’ve never been separate from God.
The idea that you must “get there”
is the final veil.
And it drops
when you stop trying to drop it.
So sit.
Breathe.
Be.
Let everything happen exactly as it does.
And in that radical allowing,
what you’ve been searching for
will rise from within.
Not as an event.
But as the most natural truth:
You were never asleep.
Only dreaming you were a seeker.

Ready to Let Go of the Seeker?
You don’t need more effort.
You need more stillness.
